Frequently asked questions

Diwigo works by invitation: you need an activation code from a member (everyone gets 5 codes when they sign up). It's how we build a community of people who know each other rather than a crowd of strangers. No code? Ask whoever told you about Diwigo, or write to us on the contact page.

On your My invitations page (avatar menu, top right, or the side drawer on mobile). You'll see your 5 codes and their status — available, sent, or used, and by whom — you can copy them, or send an invitation straight by email: your friend gets a code and joins your contacts automatically when they sign up. The “Add your friends” card in the feed does the same thing.

Click “+ Follow” on a profile, in the suggestions on the right or in the search results: that person joins your relationships. In the sidebar, the “Following” filter then shows only posts from the people you follow — your feed, tightened up, without the noise of the rest of the network. The visibility rules still apply: you only ever see what people have chosen to show you.

Circles (Family, Close friends, Colleagues…) organize your relationships. They let you filter your feed and, above all, choose who sees each post: a post published “in Family” is only visible to the members of that circle. You create them from the left column and add your contacts from their profiles.

You decide, post by post: Public = everyone on Diwigo, a circle = its members only, Private = just you. You can edit or delete your posts at any time from the ⋯ menu.

An honest reaction! Not everything deserves a “Love”, and staying silent is passivity. “Meh” lets you react sincerely — and it counts as an interaction that keeps the relationship alive. Love and Meh are mutually exclusive: choosing one removes the other.

When you haven't interacted with a contact for a while (30 days by default, adjustable in your profile), Diwigo lets you know. It's not a punishment: it's a friendly reminder that a bond that matters deserves a sign of life. A message, a call logged with “I called”, and the counter starts over.

Write #importantword in a post or a comment to make it stand out visually. One small anti-spam catch: in a burst of hashtags crammed together, only the first three get highlighted — write real sentences!

Yes: the moon/sun button at the top right switches between light and dark themes (remembered for your next visits), and in your profile you can set the text size across 5 levels, your cover photo and your bio.

Diwigo is built and hosted in Switzerland 🇨🇭. No data sold on, no targeted advertising: Diwigo's model is the quality of your relationships, not the exploitation of your attention.
